What is ACC?
ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) is New Zealand’s no-fault injury insurance scheme.

If you are injured in an accident, ACC may help cover part of the cost of treatment and rehabilitation, supporting people in returning to their pre-injury level of function as quickly and safely as possible.

ACC may cover treatment provided by a range of registered healthcare professionals, including:
-
Chiropractors
-
Physiotherapists
-
Acupuncturists
-
Osteopaths
-
General Practitioners (GPs)
Can Chiropractors Lodge ACC Claims?
Yes. In many cases, chiropractors can lodge an ACC claim for accident-related injuries.
Common examples include:
-
Sports injuries
-
Lifting injuries
-
Workplace injuries
-
Falls or slips
-
Car accidents
If the injury is accepted by ACC, part of your treatment cost may be covered.

Do You Need a GP Referral for ACC?
No. In most cases you do not need to see a GP first.
A chiropractor can assess your injury and submit an ACC claim if appropriate.

What Happens During Your First Visit?
During your consultation, your chiropractor will:
-
Ask how the injury happened
-
Perform an examination
-
Determine if the injury qualifies for ACC
-
Submit the ACC claim on your behalf
ACC will then decide whether the injury is covered.

Can Acupuncture Be Covered by ACC?
Yes. ACC may cover acupuncture treatment for injury-related conditions, depending on the circumstances and approval.
